Local History Walk: Central Wanstead

A fascinating exploration of the history of Wanstead, this walk begins at St Mary’s Church in Overton Drive and ends at the George and Dragon. 

The walk takes you around historic site and buildings, discovering the stories lost beneath the streets, including St Marys Church, Nightingale Green, United Reform Church, Christchurch, the High Street, and many others.

“History Walks” are returning after a popular first run in 2025 – this year, there are three walks to choose from focussing on different local areas: Central Wanstead, Snaresbrook and Aldersbrook & Blakehall Road. Each walk is free but ticketed and lasts approximately two hours.
