Wanstead Goes to Hollywood

The story of how three Wanstead locals changed the course of the Second World War, via their involvement in smash-hit Hollywood movie Mrs Miniver.

Local historian Greg Roberts analyses the film’s content and structure, revealing the roles played by Greer Garson (Manor Park), James Hilton (Snaresbrook), and Sir Winston Churchill (Wanstead) in creating ‘one of the strongest pieces of propaganda against complacency’ ever made.
